Underground Rebellion
Open your eyes, the world is stealing
Madness and dreams from inside your head
Turning to coil the diamonds and gold
That you didn’t know that were even there
Intoxicate, with lies and religion
Burning the books and writing again
From a new code: the laws and the manners
Are telling you how you should behave
Part of the flock, just another piece
To use for the game and then throw away
Who’s in control? Who owns your freedom?
Will you stay there, or will you rebel?
Better to be a renegade outcast
Refuse to change, or the knees bend
Better to be the social pariah
Than live as they want: not living and being a slave
Control all my steps and control all my actions
But you’ll never own all my brain
Set off the limits, and mark all the ways out:
I’d rather be dead, than to serve
Open your eyes, you’re not a sightless
Thrall won’t take place, if one is aware.
Awake, be prepared to face the overmaster
And what’s in your mind will not be erased
The underground burns in a rebellion
Here where their eyes will never gaze
Use what you have, but not as they tell you
Break the chains and hold them like they were the reins
Control all my steps and control all my actions
But you’ll never own all my brain
Set off the limits, and mark all the ways out
I’d rather be dead, than to serve
